Percy Stockdill, 83, Berthold, died Sunday, March 30, 1997, in a Garrison hospital.
He was born June 16, 1913, in Minnesota, to Ray and Christine Stockdill. The family moved to the Hartland-Donnybrook area when he was young, and he was raised and educated there. He graduated from Hartland High School and entered the Civilian Conservation Corps and worked in North Dakota and Arkansas.
He married Geraldine "Jerry" Wendlandt Oct. 2, 1938, in Milbank, S.D. They lived in Willmar, Minn., where he worked for the Willmar State Hospital. They moved to a farm near Hartland in 1943. They moved to Hartland in 1949 and he continued to farm in that area and operated a grocery store there. They moved to Berthold in 1958, where he worked for the Ward County Sign Department until he retired in 1980. His wife died Jan. 15, 1992.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Berthold, and of the Berthold Golf Club.
Survivors: sons, Rod and Glenn, both Garrison, Owen, Mandan; daughters,
Judy Erickson and Nancy Peterson, both Carpio; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Lynn, Donnybrook, Floyd, Garrison; sisters, Elsie Asmundson, Berthold, Joyce Lallo, Seattle.
Funeral: Thursday at 2 p.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Berthold.
Burial: Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold,
Visitation: Today from 9 a. m. to 8:30 p.m. in Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
