Funeral for Edward Butt, former operating engineer for Portland Water Works, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Caldwell’s Colonial Mortuary, followed by interment in Riverview Cemetery. He died Tuesday at Porthaven Nursing Home.

Mr. Butt, of 2833 NE 12th Ave., was born Nov. 15, 1877, in Central City, Iowa, and had been a Portland resident since 1917. He was a life member of Portland Lodge No. 142, B.P.O.E., and had worked at the water works for 20 years prior to his career there he worked as a fireman and engineer for Union Pacific Railroad.

Survivors include a nephew and two nieces.
