Ara Pounds Snowden is now dancing in heaven, reuniting with her eleven brothers and sisters and her daughter, Marsha. She was born in Glenwood, AR to William Isaac Pounds and Callie Watson Pounds on July 21, 1920 and died peacefully in the early morning of November 30, 2012.

She was a sweet, kind, gentle soul whose endearments of "honey" and "darlin" referred to just about everyone. If you ever had any of her delicious pies or her chicken and dumplings you would never forget them. Ara‘s belief in the power of prayer and in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, never wavered.

Among Ara's proudest accomplishments were her work ethic and her family. She spent thirty years living in Richardson, TX and returned to Hot Springs when she retired.

She is survived by her son, Raymond D. Snowden and his wife, Veda, of Covington, LA; former daughter-in-law Carol Snowden of Salt Lake City, UT; and several nieces and nephews. Granddaughters Reagan Snowden Phillips and Fara Snowden of Houston, TX; Anastasia Snowden of Covington, LA; step- grandchildren Alexandria, Stephen and Katherine Love; and great-grandchildren Kellen and Maren Phillips are all grateful to have had the love and wonderful memories of "Grand A" in their lives.

Visitation will be on Monday, December 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home, followed by a graveside committal service at Memorial Gardens, Hot Springs at 1:00 p.m. The family extends special thanks to the staff Quapaw Care Centers for their service to Ara.
