BRUST ~ OBITUARY
Elizabeth, daughter of Philip and Lena Babst, was born near Lake Erie on January 12, 1850, and died at her home on October 7, 1916, aged 66 years 8 months 25 days. She was joined in marriage to Jacob Brust on November 20, 1868. To this union were born nine children, her husband and two of them having preceded her to the great beyond. Five sons and two daughters survive her. Early in life she accepted Christ as her personal Savior and joined the United Brethren in Christ at Beaver and remained a faithful member of that church until her death. Sister Brust loved her Lord and church and had the blessed opportunity of attending one of the last revivals of Waverly and enjoyed herself very much. Her sickness began about 4 weeks ago when she became afflicted with typhoid fever. Of course, her sickness was intense, but she bore it with the patience and fortitude of a true Christian. Mrs. Brust died in a prayerful attitude remaining faithful until the end, and by so doing when she came to leave the world her work was done, her house was in order, and she was ready to answer the call of her Master and bid adieu to the world, its affections and its sorrows. Her useful life is ended and when the grim reaper had won the victory, she gently passed from life's stormy sea to a calm and peaceful repose as a warrior who had wraps his cloak about him and lied down in pleasant dreams. In the death of Elizabeth Brust, the children lose a devoted mother, the family a loving sister, the community a good citizen, the church a faithful member. In life, we knew her as she was, faithful to her family, herself, and her God. In death we know her place is vacant, but the time will come when those whom death has conquered shall reunite again to walk in the newness of life, and be together in Father's house. The family tie is again broken, no more to be united on earth, but if we are faithful we will meet her where partings are not known.
She leaves to mourn her death, one brother, 5 sons, and 2 daughters, 26 grandchildren, and a host of friends.

A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant in our home, That never can be filled;
Dearest mother thou has left us, And thy loss we deeply feel;
But tis God who has bereft us, He can all our sorrows heal;
Not mother we must lay thee, In the peaceful tombs embrace;
But thy memory will be cherished, Till we see thy heavenly face.
