County Board supervisor Rasmussen dies
The Langlade County Board of Supervisor received the sad news shortly before noon today that one of its veteran members, Clarence Rasmussen, had died hours earlier. Ironically, Rasmussen's letter of resignation as District 11 representative on the board was read at the beginning of today's meeting before the death was known. Rasmussen served on the county board for 18 years, including the last seven in succession. District 11 includes the second wards in the towns of Rolling and Norwood. Rasmussen was chairman of the board's Highway Committee for many years. He also served on the Water and Land Use Planning Committee. His successor is expected to be named at the July meeting. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Bradley Funeral Home and a complete obituary will be published Wednesday.
