Officer Nicholas K. Sloan, DSN 6085, was commissioned as a police officer on January 2, 2001. Upon completion of the academy, he was assigned to the 8th District. Officer Sloan was shot and killed in the "Line of Duty" while conducting a narcotics operation at Enright and North Taylor in District 8. Officer Sloan was among several plainclothes officers who made a drug purchase as part of the "Federal Weed and Seed Program." Officer Sloan was among several plainclothes officers who made a drug deal. Officer Sloan's partner was able to return fire and kill the suspect.

Officer Sloan served 3.07 years of faithful and dedicated service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department

Officer Sloan is survived by a 12-month-old child, girlfriend, parents, and two sisters.
