Mary Elizabeth Merritt
(January 31, 1941 - April 24, 2008)
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 28, 2008 at 10:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Many, LA with Father Joseph Martina officiating. Burial will follow in the Pendleton Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2008 beginning at 4:00 pm at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many, LA.
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Merritt was born on January 31, 1941 in Sabine Parish, LA and passed away after a lenghty illness on April 24, 2008 in Shreveport, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband Pascal Melvin Merritt; her parents James Mervin Mitchell and Teresa Geneva Mitchell; brother James Gordon Mitchell; sister Teresa Ann Camp; and grandson Trey Merritt.
Survivors include four sons, Kurt Merritt, Milton Merritt, Dillon Merritt, Dustin Merritt and wife Melanie all of Many, LA; sister Syble Spann of Tyler, TX; eight grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
For eight years Mrs Merritt was the coordinator of the CCD Classes, teaching the young children, including her own four boys with great wisdom and love. As her boys grew up and after the death of her husband Mary devoted much of her time caring for the needs of other's, the elderly, the sick, the widowed. The ones she could not help she prayed for. For the past year of her life she found great pleasure substitute teaching at Many High School.
