CARLIN -- In Salem, January 7, Effie M. (Quirk), age 87, of 38 Jackson St., Lynn, formerly of Swampscott, widow of Richard J. Carlin, mother of Swampscott Police Chief William J. Carlin, Marion Widell of Lynn, Beverly Coan and Teresa Azrack of Fla., Alice Athens of Swampscott and sister of Thomas Quirk of Lubec, Maine.

The funeral will be held in the Richardson Funeral Home, 48 Lafayette Park, Lynn, on Tuesday at 9 a.m. with Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, Humphrey St., Swampscott at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Monday 2:30 to 4 and 7 to 9. Interment Swampscott Cemetery.
