No one has been able to disprove that Rebecca (Marbury ?) was not "Goodwife". No one can say for certain she was not a daughter of Rev. Frances Marbury. So who was Mrs. Richard Maxson? How true were the events of the Indian raid that killed Ann Hutchinson and members of her family including Richard Maxson and son Richard Jr. Maxson. Then half the manifest of the ship Griffen is missing or possibly never existed. Appears we know enough about Richard Maxson but not his wife. So where does the unresolved issue belong. Some people are saying that Rebecca is a fictional character. DNA will prove nothing beyond 10 generations and who is to say its any good after 4 generations. Life is full of stories and myths as life itself is still a mystery. So the people who said Richard was married to Rebecca Marbury fabricated it more that 100 years ago. You may as well call those deceased people liars since they wrote it in their books. People are full of B.S. and it has spread across the whole world. We will never know everything about everyone. That's life.

Richard Maxon was born 1602 in England, and died Aug 20, 1643 in a Pequoin Indian Massacre, Pelham Bay, Long Island, NY, but is reportedly buried at Westerly, RI.

He married Rebecca Marbury on Jan 02, 1627/28 in London, England.

Richard came to America on the ship, "Griffen" in 1634.

Included in the ship's manifest list:

William Hutchinson and his wife, Ann ( Marbury }
Hutchinson with ten children.
Richard Maxson and his wife, Rebecca { Marbury }
Maxson with two children.
Richard Scott and his wife, Catherine { Marbury }
Scott.

Ann, Rebecca and Catherine Marbury were all daughters of Rev. Frances Marbury and Bridget Dryden of London, England.

On Sept. 1643, Ann Hutchinson and five of her children were massacred by Pequot Indians at Pelham Bay, Long Island, New York.
Ann's youngest child, Susanna was taken captive. She was released four years later.
Richard Maxson and his family escaped by small boat. Richard and son, Richard went back to try to help Ann and her children. They also were killed by the Indians. Rebecca and her remaining children rowed the boat to safety at Rhode Island.
