He was born April 10, 1894, in Greenwood, the son of the late William and Lucy (Forth) Walkington. On Dec. 15, 1915, in Chicago, he married Olivene B. Bumsted, who preceded him in death on June 27, 1933.
He was a member of Greenwood United Methodist Church. He worked as a dairy farmer in the Greenwood area for more than 60 years. He was a member of the A.M.P.I.
Survivors include four sons, Howard (Anne) Walkington, Robert Walkington, Glenn (Sarah) Walkington, all of Green Valley, AZ and George (Lura) Walkington of Woodstock; 5 daughters, Shirley (Charles) Parker of Green Valley, Caryl (Bob) Clark of Elgin, Lois (Thomas) Hansen of Peoria, Barbara (William) Markey of Ottawa and Peggy (Dick) Plimmer of Lady Lake, FL; 44 grandchildren; 90 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at the Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, Woodatock, IL.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 24, at the funeral home with the Reverand HWA Young Chong of Greenwood United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to his church.
