Services for Jacque Leslie, 41, of Pie Town, N.M. will be held on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the Quemado High School Gymnasium, Quemado, N.M., at10 a.m.

Burial will be at the Cedarvale Cemetery in White Oaks, N.M., on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at 11:30 a.m.

Pastor Jerry Buchannan will officiate.

Jacque was born on Dec. 18, 1970, to Jim Leslie and Janet Payton Leslie in Carrizozo, N.M.

She passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at her home in Pie Town after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Jacque was a 1991 Quemado High School graduate and attended two years at the New Mexico State University-Grants Campus.

She was a member of the Quemado Cowboy Church. Jacque was also an active member of the White Oaks Historical Society for the past 25 years.

Jacque loved life.

She touched the lives of many people with her strength and courage. She always had a smile and was a bright light in her church and community.

Jacque loved to draw, listen to music, and dance. She was an accomplished horsewoman and loved animals.

Jacque was always positive and she was an advocate for the special needs community and loved children.

Jacque is survived by her parents: Jim Leslie and Janet Payton Leslie, of Pie Town; brother: Jim Leslie, Jr., of Saint Johns, Ariz.; sisters: Joan Steel, of Opp, Ala., and Jana Leslie, of Denver, Colo.; and her paternal grandmother: Bessie Leslie of Carrizozo, N.M.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather: Zane Leslie; and maternal grandparents: Roy Payton and Marjorie Payton.

Pallbearers will be: Shaylee Leslie, Jacob Porter, Colter Leslie, Andrew Steele, Tyce Leslie, Ashley Steele, Tayah Leslie and Brennon Leslie.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: Fred Payton, Kelly Leslie, Mike Thode, Mike Fowler, James Mishoe, Paul Wolfe, Zane Leslie, Bob Steele, John Mickey, Wayne Harris, Colt Chiarson and Ann Hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Jacque's memory to the White Oaks Historical Society, c/o Karen Mills, #228 Patos Rd., White Oaks, N. M. 88301.

Compassion Mortuary, of Grants, N.M., is in charge of arrangements.
