Her parents were John Davidson (1783-1856) and Agnes Black (1775-1863), of the Shetland Islands. She came to Canada in the spring of 1865 with her husband and children. After her death, her husband, William Nicolson, moved on with part of the family to Marlette, Michigan, probably after early 1878.
NOTE: while her gravestone inscription clearly spells her name 'Catharine', other records gave it as 'Catherine.' This discrepancy is not yet resolved.
