Emil J. Kosmicki, 83, of Grand Island died Sunday, Nov. 24, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Tom Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Kosmicki was cremated. Gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home, with a 7 p.m. rosary.
Mr. Kosmicki was born Dec. 28, 1918, in Sherman County to Cash and Elizabeth Kosmicki.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene M. (Andersen) Kosmicki, on Oct. 5, 2001.
Survivors of the immediate family include a son, Larry Kosmicki, and a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Wayne Journey, all of Grand Island.
Those also left to cherish his memory are his son Larry's fiancé, Eileen Samway of Grand Island, three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was raised on a farm near Ashton and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Arlene M. Andersen on Oct. 6, 1951, at Grand Island. He farmed in Hall and Howard counties. He was employed as a custodian by the Grand Island Public School, from which he retired.
He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral and the American Legion. He enjoyed feeding the squirrels.
