Pauline Pokorski

Pauline Pokorski, 77, of Ashton died Sunday at a Grand Island hospital.
Services were Wednesday at 10:30am at Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Paplin. The Rev. Milan Kopushar officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Loup City Memorial Funeral Home was in charge. Memorials are suggested to the Mt. Carmel Cemetery Association, the Ashton Rescue Unit or the American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Pokorski was born Jan. 23 [sic], 1905, in Howard County, the daughter of Cashmir and Elizabeth Stefanowicz Kosmicki. She grew up and received her education at Paplin.
On Nov. 14, 1922, she married Stanley Pokorski at Paplin. They farmed in the Ashton area for several years, retiring in 1965 and moving to Ashton in 1967. Mr. Pokorski died in 1975.
She was a member of the Catholic faith, the Ashton American Legion Auxiliary and the Mt. Carmel Altar Society.
Survivors include three sons, Delphie of Scottsdale, Ariz., LaVern of Omaha and Patrick of Ashton; four daughters, Mrs. Jake (Irene) Beasley of Waukegan, Ill., Mrs. Alvin (Edean) Gembala of Wood River, Mrs. Dale (Elaine) Nowak of St. Paul and Mrs. Ronald (Joan) Cassiddy of Waukegan, Ill.; a sister, Theresa Pokorski of Ashton; two brothers, Emil and Clemence Kosmicki, both of Grand Island, 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
