Lucille was born April 27th, 1927 at Fabius Twp., St. Joseph Co., MI, the eldest of two daughters of Eddy LeRoy and Iva Lucille (VICKERY) Weatherwax. She graduated from Schoolcraft High School as Valedictorian of the Class of 1945. Although she would have loved to have gone to college, the financial resources were just not available. Thus, she spent much of her working life in the resturant business and she also took care of children in her home. In 1946, she married Claude Brown. This marriage was a brief one that ended in divorce. Although married to Walter John Zaleski at the time of her death, she lies entombed next to her second husband, Henry James VanGemert, Sr., in the mausoleum at Mt. Ever-Rest. (He predeceased her in October, 1977.) She was also predeceased by her mother in 1987; her sister, Gloria Mae Weatherwax Schuck Watkins, in 1990; and her father in 1991. She is survived by her husband, Walter John Zaleski, of Battle Creek (died 4 August, 2004); a son, Henry James VanGemert Jr. (Debra), of Scotts; a daughter, Linda H. Wilbur (Robert), of Homer; three grandchildren, Geoffrey VanGemert, Caitlin VanGemert and Andrew (Kimberly) Payne; and two great grandchildren.
