The Perry County Democrat, 16 Oct 1935:

James Minick, aged 81 years, 6 months and 15 days, a prominent and retired business man, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. G. L. Zimmerman, in Carlisle, Wednesday of last week of a heart condition.

Mr. Minick was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Minick and was born at the H.P. Wilson farm, near Loysville, and was six months old when his father was killed by falling from the overden [sic] in the barn onto a hay ladder wagon and was caught in the rungs. James Minick grew to manhood in Loysville at the Mrs. Mary Snyder property. He was married to Miss Ellen Drawbaugh, of Bloserville, who died about seven or eight years ago.

He had owned the John Rice farm west of Loysville and three houses in the village. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Loysville, later being transferred to the First Lutheran Church of Carlisle, after moving there in 1896. By occupation he was a wagonmaker and cattle dealer and retired from active business life some years ago. He was the lest [sic] member of a family of ten children. Surviving him are his daughter Minnie, wife of Dr. G. L. Zimmerman, of Carlisle, and a son, John D. Minick, of Lemoyne; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the Shulenberger funeral parlors, Carlisle, Friday at 3 p.m., a former pastor, Dr. G. M. Diffenderfer, and his pastor, Rev. A. R. Steck, officiating, and burial was in the Mausoleum, Westminster
cemetery, Carlisle.
