Betty May Bice Robbins, 88 of 27848 NY 12 Brownville,
passed away at 11:05 P.M. at The Grand Nursing Home in Rome. She was a daughter of Ora and Gladys O’Connor Bice of the Town of Worth. She was one of 11 children.

She attended school in a one room schoolhouse in the Town of Worth, graduating in 1945. She met her husband Henry P. Robbins in 1953 and later married on July 10, 1954 in Adams. They were married for 32 years and had two children James H and Mary P Robbins. Betty lost her husband to cancer in 1986. in 2005, she reconnected with her friend Russell Ruttan and he was her companion for 10 wonderful years until he passed away in 2015.

Betty worked most of her life and was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County living over 40 years on Route 12. She worked for Gould Corporation and later Bomax until the plant was closed. She also worked for Elder Care helping the elderly and made some friends there. She would also babysit for her neighbor from time to time.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and watching TV, she was a collector of Betty Boop, she liked to travel and would visit her family out of state whenever possible. She loved her family very much.

She is survived by her daughter Mary P. Hofer of Piedmont, SC; 5 grandsons: Charles (Erica) Hofer of Mt. Vernon, IN; Joseph Hofer of London, Ohio; Wesley (Anna) Hofer of Greer, SC; Travis Robbins and Vance Robbins both of Ironwood, Michigan; 1 granddaughter: Sara Hofer of Belton, SC. Brothers James, Richard, and John Bice ; Sisters Margurite Brown, Jenny Carr, June Bice, and Sandy Piddock. 10 great-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry, son James, sister Joan Lydia Bice; brothers Daniel, and Robert Ora Bice. Brother-in-law Glen C. Smith, Son-in-law Clifford Hofer, grandson Johnathan Hofer, and companion of 10 years, Russell Ruttan.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday August 10, 2016 at Parrish Cemetery, Pamelia. Arrangements are being managed by Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter.
