Dr. Carol R. Meyer, nee Rehder, 87, of Lombard, died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Dr. Meyer is survived by her husband, Dr. Morgan M. Meyer, whom she married in 1948; sons, Dr. Paul (Pamela) of Lombard, the Rev. Mark D., Steven J. (Maureen) and Daniel J. (Mary); seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother, Robert Rehder, Ph.D. (Irene Thurston); brother-in-law, Bruce (the late Barbara) Sublette; sister-in-law, Bernice (the late Harold) Meyer; and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Frederick Rehder and Charlotte Thoreson.
Dr. Meyer was a resident of Lombard from 1952-92, Glen Ellyn from 1992 to 2010 and Lombard from 2010-12. She was born in Chicago and graduated from Calumet High School and Morgan Park Junior College. She received her B.S. degree from Northwestern University in 1944 and graduated from the University of Illinois Chicago Medical School in 1949.
Dr. Meyer practiced in Lombard from 1952 until she retired in 2000; she treated thousands of Lombard children and was much loved. She was a co-founder of Meyer, Meyer & Albers Medical Group and was also one of the founders of DuPage Medical Group (when her practice merged with others). She was a member of the DuPage County Medical Society and was a member of First Church of Lombard, where she volunteered for many years at First Things First infant needs program.
