Elizabeth Betty (Thomas) Kelly, age 60, of Halifax, formerly of Middleboro, died suddenly Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. She was the wife of the late James S. Kelly, who predeceased her in Jan. 9, 2009. Born in Middleboro, she was the daughter of Mary (Cicero) Belanger. She was a graduate of Silver Lake Regional High School, Class of 1970. She attended Massassoit Community College, and then went on to earn her bachelors degree in education from Bridgewater State College. Betty and her husband co-owned and operated Kellys Tire Mart, Middleboro, since 1973, with her brother-in-law Kevin. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, celebrating and decorating for all holidays with her family, as well as their annual trip to Point Sebago, Maine. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her, including her Middleboro community which she served for many years. Survivors include a son, Brian J. Kelly of Northborough; two daughters, Kimberly A. Kelly and Melissa M. Kelly, both of Halifax; one sister, Andrea and her husband Jeff Hay of Halifax; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kevin and his wife Sue Kelly of Middleboro, Michael and his wife Sara Kelly of Raynham, Joseph and his wife Anne Kelly of North Attleboro, Eileen S. Gates of Middleboro. He was the stepfather of the late Andre Belanger and Catherine Turner. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, Jan. 6, from 4-7 p.m. in the Ashley Funeral Home, 35 Oak St., Middleboro. A graveside service will be held Monday, Jan. 7, at 11 a.m. in St. Marys Cemetery, Middleboro. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02115, would be appreciated.
