Lela M. Steen, 92, died at home with her daughter and son-in-law by her side, on April 26. A Grave Side Service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2007, at 12:00 pm at Lakewood Memorial Park with Rev. Tyler Pigott officiating.
Mrs. Steen was born July 22, 1914 in Wesson and was a long time resident of Jackson where she was a member of Woodland Hills Baptist Church and retired from the Mississippi State Board of Health Department.
Mrs. Steen was a devoted Christian wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
She was preceded in death by three husbands, Grady Rogers, Richard Dorris and H.V. "Red" Steen, her son Curtis Rogers, and her stepson Richard L Dorris, Jr. She was a wonderful Christian servant that gave her time, prayers, and love to all who knew her. She enjoyed family, her beautiful flower garden, visiting with friends and neighbors, but most especially worshipping her Lord.
Mrs. Steen is survived by her daughter, Sue (George) Hardage and son, David (Nancy) Dorris all of KS; 10 grandchildren, Chip Hardage of KS, Sally Garland of MS, Tracey Wilson of AL, Beth Kirkman, Amy Sargent, and Andy Rogers all of NC, Danielle Shirley, Kelly Dorris, Matthew Dorris , Scott Dorris all of KS and 2 step-grandson's, Richard & Carl Dorris of MS; 8 great grandchildren; and brother, Walter (Mildred) Miller of CO.
