Dr. Mitchell Mikkelsen was the son of Knudt Mikkelsen Lono and Carrie Eriksdotter Roalkvam. He came to Faribault County about 1864. He married Ella Heffron in 1879 in Blue Earth City, and had a son, William Byford Mikkelsen born in 1882. After Ella died he married Mary Perrizo and had a son Leo Mitchell Mikkelsen. There is no stone on Dr. Mikkelsen's grave.
