Roen married Frances Milton Willhite on Sunday, May 29, 1949, when she was 21 years old. The ceremony was held at her parents house at 2318 West Circle Drive. In 1952, Roen and Frances moved to Shawnee, Kansas. Roen and Frances had four children together; Claudia Snow, Bonnie Sue, Etta Jo, and Kathleen Ann. Roen was a member of the First Christian Church all her life.
Roe n and Francis moved to Shawnee, Kansas and were living at 6535 Melrose Lane at the time of her death in 1958.
Tragically, Roen contracted breast cancer. She was very ill from 1956 until her death on June 13, 1958. Roen died of a pulmonary embolism that resulted from surgery to remove the cancer in her right breast, when she was just thirty years old. Roen is buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery in the family plot with her mother, Grace Andrea Trimble Borchers,her father, Earl Conrad Borchers, her brother, Bryce, and sister Wilma.
