John Frank was born to Franz and Margeretha (Christen) Gilk. He married Emma Louise Rohrs on March 1, 1904 in the St. John's Lutheran Church, Krain Township, Minnesota. Rev. Heinrich Nauss officiated the ceremony and witnessed by Carl Rohrs, Casper Rohrs, Theresa Gilk, and Ludwig Gilk. The funeral was held on April 1, 1951 with burial following the service.
