Edward C. Breckenridge, 80, 522 Longwood st., a carpenter contractor for many years before retiring a few years ago, died at 3 a.m. today in St. Anthony hospital where he was admitted yesterday afternoon. Death was the result of a stroke.

Mr. Breckenridge was born Dec. 16, 1870, at Poplar grove, the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Breckenridge. He moved to Rockford in February, 1898, and married the former Mabel Kauffman here on June 26, 1907. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church.

Besides his wife, Mr. Breckenridge is survived by three sons, Edward and Willard, both of Rockford, and Ben, Poplar Grove; two brothers, Mathew, Rockford, and A. James Breckenridge, Rockford real estate dealer; two sisters, Nellie Breckenridge, former teacher in the Rockford public school system, and Mrs. Mary McCathran, Caledonia; and by a grandson.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Long-Klontz funeral home, 428 Park ave., Dr. O. Garfield Beckstrand, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Bluff cemetery.
