OBITUARY Iron River Reporter Oct 24 1966 "Josephine Kamppi Dies At Phelps"
Mrs. Josephine Kamppi, 84, of the Riverside Addition, Iron River, passed away early Sunday morning at the Northwoods Hospital in Phelps, Wis., following a short illness.
A resident of this area for the past 20 years, she was born April 4, 1882 in Vasa, Finland, and came to the United States as a young woman. She was married to Matt Kamppi, who passed away in 1916.
Mrs. Kamppi had resided in Wakefield for many years before moving to Phelps, Wisconsin, and later to Iron River.
She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Alfred (Jennie) Corlett of Punyallus, Wash., Mrs. Walter (Helen) Pelto of Chicago, Mrs. Einar (Lily) Filpulla of Phelps, Wis. and Mrs. Oscar (Tillie) Westerlund of Iron River, and one son John Kamppi of Beloit, Wis. Fourteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Kamppi are tentatively scheduled for Wednesday with interment to follow in the Wakefield cemetery.
The body is at the Duvall Funeral Home where friends may call after 3 Tuesday afternoon.
