She attended schools in Lancaster, NH and graduated in 1932 from Hartford High School in Hartford, VT following which she came to Newport where for fourteen years she was assistant in the office of Donald C. Moriarty, MD.
She was the widow of Myron C. Tenney whom she married on May 9, 1935 and he died in 1984.
Known for her interest in local history, genealogy and lineage research, she was Regent of Reprisal Chapter DAR and held State Offices in the New Hampshire State DAR, was State President of the Association of State Historical Society, a member of Old Graveyard Association, Dames Court of Honor and Founders and Patriots, a member of the South Church, Co-chairman of the restoration of the Little Red School and was responsible for the ownership title coming to the Chapter and its history in a National Publication.
She was Vice President of the new Newport Historical Society. In 1971 she led the restoration of the old 1827 Court House, the second floor which became a collection of Newport artifacts for which she received the Woman of the Year award from the BPW.
She was active in the Sullivan County Humane Society. Her dogs were her constant companions.
The surviving family includes her son, Stephen Tenney of Virginia; two granddaughters, Carrie Anna Tenney of Manchester, NH and Elizabeth Reynolds Tenney of Charleston, SC; a brother, Dr. Richard Reynolds of Charleston, SC and California. also nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one son Michael Tenney in 1990.
