He was born in Pulaski County on Dec. 24, 1907, the son of the late Luther and Veella Trimble Ard. He was a farmer and member of the Mount Zion Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Buchanan Ard, whom he married on Dec. 29, 1926; three sons, Roy and Donald Ard, both of Westchester, Ohio, and Wilmer Ard, Science Hill; three brothers, Linville Ard, Norfleet, Ohio, O'Neal Ard, Somerset, and Luther Ard, Fort Lupton, Colo.; a sister, Grace Pierce, Somerset; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter; five brothers, Chester, Emory, Omer, Ernest, and Oscar Ard; and two sisters, Iva Beshears and Onnie Simpson.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with the Revs. J.B. Walters and Ray Losey officiating.
Burial will be in Science Hill Cemetery.
