Mrs. Samuel Tregonning died at her home in this city Wednesday last, at the advanced age of ninety years and nine months. Her death was caused from the effects of a fall four weeks before her death, at which time her arm was fractured and her shoulder dislocated.
Deceased was born in Cornwall, England, May 3rd, 1818, and in the year 1842, she in the company of relatives came to America and settled at Potosi, Wis. Dec. 26th, 1844 she was married to Samuel Tregonning at Potosi, Wis., and a few months later they came to Shullsburg where they made their permanent home. In November 1891, her husband died.
Of this union eleven children were born, five dying in childhood, the children now living and who attended to her during her last illness are as follows: Nicholas of Dunbarton, Elizabeth Peters of Armour, South Dakota, John of Monroe, Mrs. E. Rule, Prudence and William C., of this city.
Funeral obsequies were held at the M.E. church on Sunday last at two o'clock, Rev. E.S. Vischer officiating. The music was furnished by a quartette choir. A very large crowd were present to pay their last token of respect and love to the memory of one of our oldest citizens.
