Robert Bauwens
Services for Robert H. Bauwens, 70, of 1310 12th St., Moline, are 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline, where he was a member. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline, with military rites conducted by Moline American Legion Post 246.
Visitation is 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, with a rosary to be recited at 6 by the Catholic Order of Foresters, to which he belonged. A Christian wake service will be held at 6:30. Memorials may be made to the building fund of Seton Catholic School, Moline.
Mr. Bauwens died Sunday, Sept. 22, 1996, at Trinity Medical Center, East Campus, Moline.
He was born June 24, 1926, in Davenport, the son of Joseph A. and Mary L. Van Lancker Bauwens. He married Therese M. Meersman July 21, 1948, in Moline.
He was employed as a tool and die maker at John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, for 15 years, retiring in 1991. Before that he worked at the former Ametek, East Moline, for 15 years.
He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
He was a member of C.O.F. Sacred Heart Court 1691 and the Ex-Servicemen's Club, Moline.
Survivors include the widow; daughters and sons-in-law Mary and Timothy Nonnenmann and Connie and Tony Brodt, all of Rock Island; sons and daughters-in-law Jerry and Barbara Bauwens, Beaver Dam, Wis., Marty and Carlene Bauwens and Tim Bauwens, all of Naperville, and John Bauwens, D.D.S., Janesville, Wis.; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; sisters Katherine Shoemaker, Brunswick, Ga., and Mary Helen Brust, Moline; and brothers John and David Bauwens, both of Tucson, Ariz., and Rev. Joseph O.C.S.B., New Mallory, Iowa. A son, Rev. R. Eli, S.S.J., died in 1990.
