Yoakum – Agnes Abernathy, 93, of Yoakum, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002.
She was born Aug. 7, 1908, to the late Robert H. and Em Robertson Abernathy. She graduated from University of Texas and was a schoolteacher for Yoakum ISD, retiring after 50 years of service. She was a member of Texas Ex Teacher Association, Philomathic Club, La Mancha Bridge Club, Friday's Bridge Club and Holy Communion Episcopal Church.
Survivors: brother, Joe Abernathy of Burnett.
Preceded in death by: parents.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. tonight at Buffington Funeral Home chapel.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Oak Grove Cemetery, the Rev. Gary Gooch officiating. Buffington Funeral Home, Yoakum, 361-293-2333.
