Mary June Burgess, 80, of Jacksonville, FL passed away Thursday, January 24, 2013. She was born in Hackneyville, AL on June 9, 1932 to Rossey Hubert and Kitty Gertrude Collins, the thirteenth of fifteen children. Of the Baptist faith, she enjoyed crocheting and will be remembered fondly as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (aka Mega). Mrs. Burgess was preceded in death by her husband, James Bryan Burgess; her parents; five brothers; and five sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Debra Burgess and Tonya Davis; son, Raymond B. Burgess (Terry); three brothers, Larkin Collins, Claude Collins, and Owen "O.M." Collins; one sister, Cynthia Gail Spirakis; and grandchildren: Raelene Brandy Burgess, Kandace Burgess, Rebecca Ann Burgess, and Sean Davis; great-grandchildren: Kamrin D. Craver, Harmony Skye Burgess, and Chloe L. Craver; and also by Manny Arvanitas whom she loved like a son. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Boulevard, Orange Park, FL 32073. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice or American Cancer Society.
