Herbert Ah Yo Sr., 88, of Honolulu, a retired federal construction inspector and U.S. Army Reserve major, died in the Queen's Medical Center. He was born in Honomu, Hawaii. He is survived by sons Herbert Jr., Gerald, Melvin and Clayton; daughter Cynthia Kupau; brother Elgin Duarte; sisters Rose Namaka, Ethelbertha Morimoto and Elaine Hara; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mass: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Star of the Sea Church. Call after 9 a.m. Burial: 12:30 p.m. at Valley of the Temples. Aloha attire.
