Leland Elijah Behunin 1918 ~ 2008 age 90, beloved father, grandfather returned to the loving arms of his Heavenly Father on November 28, 2008 in Orem, UT.

He was born February 7, 1918 in Fremont, Wayne County, Utah to Isaac Martin and Julia Ellen Behunin. He married Vida Lorea Hunt April 19, 1939 in Torrey, UT. Their marriage was later solomnized in the Manti Temple.

Leland was educated in Wayne County. He grew up under hard conditions due to his father's health. He had to start work early in life to help support the family. He worked as a sheep hearder, on ranches, farmed and logged timber off Boulder Mountain. He started his married life in Cainsville and Torrey and later moved to Idaho and Orem, UT., where he became an excellent carpenter and contractor.

He built many homes and churches for the LDS church in Texas, Illinois, Missouri, Louisiana and Utah. While in Missouri he was asked by LeGrande Richards to oversee and report on the restoration of the old Liberty Jail. He worked for the church nine years.

In California he worked on several Scandia Family Fun Centers. His care and loving heart for others helped many young families get started on their own homes. His desire and love for building continued until the day he passed away even though the last eight years of his life his health prevented him from doing so. His last home he built for he and his wife in Hurricane, UT., where his wife passed away eight years ago in November 2000.

As a member of the LDS church he was very active in many capacities. In 1987 he along with his wife served an LDS Mission in Jacksonville, Florida. He loved to participate in church gospel discussions. His testimony of Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and the eternal plan was the center and most important part of his life along with his love for his family. His spirit and inspiration had a great influence on many people wherever he lived.
