Thomas Brennan Chilton Times May 6, 1911

On Monday afternoon, May 1st, Thos. Brennan, Sr., died at the home of his son, Thos. Brennan, in Valders at the age of sixty-seven years. The deceased was born in the county Clair, Ireland, March 28, 1844, and at the age of six months his parents came to America and located at Lindsey, Canada, where Mr. Brennan remained until 1864 when he came to this country and located in the town of Eaton, Manitowoc County, where he worked in a saw mill for a time and then followed farming. In 1866 he was married to Mary Finnegan and remained in the town of Eaton until 1881 when he located at the lime kilns near Hayton and worked for the Union Lime company. He was a faithful worker and remained with that concern until 1908 when he was stricken with paralysis and was obliged to give up work. Since that time he made his home with his sons, Barney and Thos. Mr. Brennan was a man of excellent character and gave the best efforts of his life to a large family which he raised. He was highly esteemed by those who knew him because he was a man who was honest in all his dealings with his fellow men, generous to a fault and never hesitated to put the stamp of disapproval on anything that he thought was wrong.
He was a devout member to the Catholic Church and was buried from St. Augustine's church in this city with interment in the family lot in St. Augustine's cemetery beside his wife who died in 1903. A large number from Valders and other places attended the funeral.
He is survived by five sons, Barney, Thos., Will of Valders, Pat of Manitowoc and John of Franklin Park, Ill., and five daughters, Mrs. Julia Billings of Calumet, Mich., Rose of Valders, Mrs. Chas. McCulley of Cato, Mrs. Katherine March of Milwaukee and Mrs. John Knox of Mayville.
