Visitation and Services
Funeral Services for Herbert "Skin" Carswell will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday January 31, 2013 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. Dean Gurley and Rev. Harold Kanupp officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Valdese.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 PM Thursday at Heritage Funeral Service, Valdese.

Obituary
Mr. Herbert "Skin" Carswell, 82, of Valdese, died Monday January 28, 2013 at Autumn Care Nursing Center, after a brief illness.
Mr. Carswell was born September 8, 1930 in Burke County a son of the late Ramon and Fannie Leger Carswell. He was a faithful member of Flat Gap Baptist Church and retired as operation manager in the textile and knitting industry. "Skin" was known as an avid gardener, and for sharing his produce with his family and friends. For many years his hobby was working as a motorcycle repairman.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Milburn "Bud" Carswell, Ronnie "Freedale" Carswell and Benny "Tom" Carswell.
Surviving are his wife, Callie Brittain Carswell of the home, a son Dennis Carswell of Valdese, two brothers, Dean "Joe" Carswell and wife Doris, Gene "Dude" Carswell and wife Dianne, two sisters, Betty Cook and husband Robbie, Patsy Beaver and husband Jim, two sister-in-laws, Rachel Carswell and Joan Carswell all of Valdese. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews.
