Joseph Roome was the son of Jacobus Roome 1734 and Hannah Morse.
Joseph married Sarah Sally Alyea, the daughter of Jacobus James Alyea 1730, and Annaetje (Hannah) Secord, on August 28, 1796 in Pompton Plains, Morris County.
The couple had children: Hannah 1797, Benjamin 1798, Sophia (Jacob J) Banta 1800, Sarah 1801, Susan 1803, Margaret 1805, Ann Elizabeth (Hiram) Burrows 1807, Peter J 1810, Jacob 1811, Joseph 1813, Rachel (Moses) Wright 1815, Elizabeth 1816 (Peter A) Post.
Joseph Roome's father Jacobus Roome and his grandfather on his mothers side Joseph Morse both fought in the Revolutionary War.
William Mecabe's 1946 transcription has two Joseph Roomes, in Sections 6 and in Section 10. There are no dates on the transcription, so it is not known which one is this Joseph, his son Joseph, or some other Joseph Roome. However this Joseph's wife Sarah Alyea has a gravestone marker in section 6.
