DOUGLAS M. AYERS
Services for Douglas Moore Ayers of 1615 S. Crockett St., 77-year-old retired livestock dealer who died Monday at a Sherman hospital will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Waldo Funeral Home. Steve Smith of Travis Street Church of Christ will officiate, with burial in Van Alstyne Cemetery.
Mr. Ayers was born in Van Alstyne, a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ayers, and married Opal Keller Douglas on Aug. 21, 1948, in Denison. He was a livestock dealer and trader in the Sherman area for many years and a member of the Travis Street Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, of Sherman; daughter Charleen Gay of Sherman; brother, Walter Ayers of Van Alstyne; sister Mrs. Lillie Jackson of Paris; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and other times at the family residence, 1615 S. Crockett. Memorials may be made to Boles Home, Quinlan.
