She was born December 22, 1926 in Surry County to the late Dewey A. Johnson and Lillian McBride Johnson. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband; Robert T. Smith, and a sister; Ruby "Johnnie" Wood.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was a homemaker.
The funeral will be held at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Bass-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Hickory with the Rev. Larry Bolick officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
