Funeral rites for Dr. Joseph S. Chandler, Jr., 24, intern at Ball Memorial Hospital who died Saturday following an operation, were conducted Sunday morning at the Meeks Mortuary. The Reverend Robert G. Sulanke, pastor of the Jackson Street Christian Church was in charge. The body was then taken to the Chandler family home in Corydon, Ky., where final rites will be conducted Tuesday.

Dr. Chandler was the half-brother of A.B. (Happy) Chandler, commissioner of organized baseball and former U.S. senator from Kentucky. He was an active member of the Jackson Street Christian Church and a member of the church choir, and a missionary candidate under the United Christian Missionary Society of Indianapolis.

He had received his A.B. degree at Transylvania College, Lexington, Ky., studied at Evansville College, and received his M.D. degree at the university of Louisville.

Survivors include also the wife, Eleanor Jean; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph S. (Rudie) Chandler, Sr., of Corydon; a sister, Miss Mary Katherine Chandler, a student at Transylvania.
