J.B. Burleson, 77, of Patricia Lane, died Wednesday evening at Johnson City Medical Center.

Mr. Burleson was retired as a foreman from Pet Milk Co. after 32 years of service.

He was a veteran of World War II.

Mr. Burleson was a member of Wayside Free Will Baptist Church, Beersheba Lodge #449, F&AM, and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Andrew Johnson Post #1990.

He attended Roby Fitzgerald Adult Center.

Those close to him knew him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

He was the widower of Dorothy Aldridge Burleson, his wife of 52 years, who died March 16 of this year.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Benna and Elliott Douthat of Greeneville and Charlene and Roscoe Starnes of Crossville; two sons and daughters-in-law: Chris and Debbie Burleson of Piney Flats and Gerald and Freddie Burleson of Tazewell; nine grandchildren: Leigh Ann Douthat of Greeneville, DeAnna Weems of Chuckey, Wendy Mullendore of Greeneville, Jama Starnes of Dallas, Texas, Rita Bohannon of Crossville, Todd Starnes of Dallas, Blakeley Burleson and Hunter Burleson, both of Piney Flats, and John Burleson of Sevierville; four great-grandchildren: George Jerriott Weems, Gaberille Bohannon, Nicholas Bohannon, and Shayden Mullendore; four brothers: Roy Burleson and Homer Burleson, both of Bakersville, N.C., D.H. Burleson of Johnson City, and Junior Burleson of Baltimore, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was a son of the late Chester and Sally Burleson and was preceded in death by two sisters: Irene Murray and Loretta Gosnell.

The family will receive friends from 3-7:30 p.m. today at Kiser Funeral Home.

A Masonic service will be follow visitation at 7:30 in the funeral home chapel. Beersheba Lodge #449 will conduct the service.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the funeral home chapel with interment in GreeneLawn Memory Gardens. The Rev. Ken Fillers and the Rev. D.C. Byrd will officiate.

VFW Post #1990 will conduct a military graveside service.

Grandsons and special nephews will be active pallbearers.
