Katherine Schulte's father was Wilhelm Schulte. Fred or Ferdinand Schulte was her brother. Fred and Katherine were orphaned in 1846. Their parents are in the mass grave at Memorial Square. Fred was 9, Katherine, 2. She was taken in by Thomas Stearne and enumerated in his house in 1850-1870. How Fred survived the first years is not known. He joined the Confederacy when the war broke out. He married Anna Wagner after the war. Katherine's application for the United Daughters of the Confederacy exists. She calls Ferdinand her brother in the application. Her death certificate is not correct. Wilhelm and his two children were treated by Dr. Felix Webb in 1846. They are on the list at Indianola, TX.
