Actress. Best remembered for her role as "Young-shin" in the Korean war drama "Taeguki" or National Flag in English. The film, released in 2004 was one of the highest-grossing films in the Korea's history and made the rounds in the international circuit. Lee began her career as a model and scored her first major role in the 2000 film "Oh! Soo-jung." She soon aquired teen idol status and was considered as one of the hottest rising star in the South Korean movie industry. But after her brush with fame, Lee was plauged with a bout of mental illness after performing nude scenes in the noir Korean crime film "The Scarlet Letter," which was selected as the closing film last year at one of the Pusan International Film Festival one the biggest film events in Asia. Eun-ju Lee apparently hung herself with a necktie in a dressing room and left a suicide note scrawled in blood, in which she wrote "Mom, I am sorry and I love you."
