John was born February 2, 1822 in County Meath, Ireland. He came to this country in 1848, settling in Pennsylvania working in the Iron Mines until coming to Mineral Point in 1852. [Iowa County Democrat, Mineral Point, Wisconsin, Thur. 13 Oct 1893, pg. 1]

"The bride [dau., Agnes] belongs to one of Mineral Point's oldest and respected families, her parents having located here in the early '50's [1850].",... [Iowa Co. Democrat, Mineral Point, WI, Thur., 30 Aug 1900, p4/c 3 ].

Sioux City Tribune, 9 Oct 1893: McArgle-On Oct. 7, 1893, John McArgle, aged 71 years, 8 months. The death of Mr. McArgle occurred at the home of his son-in-law, James Brady, at number 926 Pierce Street. The Funeral services were held this forenoon at St. Mary's church. *McArgle is NOT a typo, but rather how the paper spelled it but as you can see below, it is should have been spelled McArdle and is the same person.

Sioux City Tribune 26 Feb 1897: Funeral services of Mrs. Catherine McArdle of LeMars, who died at her home yesterday, at the age of 67 years,...The husband of the deceased, John McArdle, three years ago while on his way to Council Bluffs, stopped over in this city with his son-in-law, Frank Brady. While in Sioux City he was taken suddenly ill and died.
