Seely was the son of Epenetus and Mary Ann Sattterly Ketchum.
Seely Ketchum was born in Orange County New York May 19, 1814, and died at his home in Pulaski Ill., May 14, 1889.
Had he lived till Sunday following He would have been 75 years of age. Mr.K. emigrated to this country in the spring
Of 1838 and settled in North East Tp. Adams county, where with the exception of a few years spent in Chicago, he lived until the close of life. He was born of pious parents and reared in a Christian home, and though he resisted the influence of grace, through the greater portion of his life, yet the impressions formed in that Christian home could not be obliterated from his heart and mind. For several years he had been a great sufferer
and in the midst of his afflictions his thoughts turned on the state of his soul. He remembered the teaching of his
youth and lifted his heart in prayer to the world's Redeemer and professed saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He desired that every one should know that he depricatd his prodigality, and that he had returned to acknowledge God before he died. He was one of the old settlers of the community and was highly esteemed as a
good neighbor and friend. He was an affectionate father and husband and all was done that loving and devoted hearts
could devise to administer comfort in his hours of suffering and decline. The G.A.R. Post of which he was an honored member had charge his obsequies Which took place at Pulaski, May 10 performing the right in an effective and
commendable manner. The funeral dis- course was preached by the Rev. T.W.Greer of Augusta, Rev. D.G. Bradford
of Augusta and Rev. S. Middleton of La Praire assisting in the religious ser-
vices.
