Louis came to this country at age 6, His father Louis Sr was royal gunmaker in Bavaria. Louis joined the US Army at age 16 and fought Indians being wounded several times, once with a poisoned arrow. He fought with the Union Army during the Civil War then contracted yellow fever and had to go home to Baltimore to convalesce at the home of his sister Mrs Moser on Belair Rd.
