After resigning from the Military, Lewis set out for the Ohio and better farming. He had a 200 acre farm in southern Ohio, just southwest of Hillsboro on what is now State Route 138 near Little Rocky Fork Creek.

Born in Bedford County Virgina the son of Elizabeth Pulliam and Frontier John Holladay. Lewis was first an Ensign in the 10th Reg. of The First Battalion in the Virginia Militia. He was promoted to Lieutenant and after 2 years resigned.
