Edward James Kocian, age 83, formerly of Francis Creek, died Tuesday, November 28, 2000, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2000, at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Kellnersville. Officiating will be Sr. Marlene Greatens. Burial will follow at Kossuth National Cemetery.

Edward was born March 14, 1917, in Kellnersville, Wis., son of the late Matt Kocian, Sr. and Katherine Tisler Kocian. He attended school at the one room school house at Kellnersville. On July 7, 1936, he married Lola Fern White in Des Moines, Iowa. She preceded him in death in 1991. Eddie served our country during World War II in the South Pacific Theatre. He returned home following the war, and lived then in Francis Creek for the remainder of his life. The last several months during which time he was a resident of River's Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center. In 1953, and Fern's daughter Becky was born. During his lifetime, Eddie worked as a truck driver and as a welder at Manitowoc Cranes. He retired from Manitowoc Cranes in 1982. Eddie was a member of the Kubale-O'Connell V.F.W, Post #6179 of Cato.

Eddie is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Becky Kocian and John Raisleger, Random Lake; one granddaughter, Kristin Spaude and her fiancé, Joseph Petska, Manitowoc; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Agnes Kocian, Kellnersville, Matt Kocian, Jr., Francis Creek, June Kocian, Manitowoc; nieces, nephews, and many friends also survive. Besides his parents and wife, Fern, he was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother-in-law, Molly Cherney, Eleanor and Quirin Wachal; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Rose Kocian, Victor and Isabelle Kocian, George Kocian and Florence Kocian.

Relatives and friends may call at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, Kellnersville, from 9 a.m. Friday until the time of services at 11 a.m.

The family would like to especially thank Bill Fitzgerald, Doris Schrimpf, Erv Spaude and the staffs at River's Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center and Holy Family Memorial Medical Center for their support.
