Mrs. Bates passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013 at her residence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Calvin Grant Sandlin and Pearlie Ann Stricklin Sandlin; her husband, Eston Bates; two sisters, Ozella Vandiver and Lorene Sanford and two brothers, Harlan Sandlin and Shulus Sandlin.
She is survived by a son, Phillip (Patricia) Bates of Fairhope; a daughter, Dr. Deborah (Dr. Talmadge) Liveoak of Madison; three grandchildren, Dr. Phillip Bates Jr. of Gainesville, FL, Nicholas Bates of Mobile and Cristin Liveoak of Huntsville.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Phillip Bates Jr., Nicholas Bates; Dr. Talmadge Liveoak, Gary Vandiver, Barry Vandiver and Ronnie Sandlin.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Cullman County at PO Box 1108, Cullman, AL 35056.
The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hanceville Funeral Home.
