SHAVER--At the residence of his son, in this place, on Sunday, March 6th, of Asthma, Mr. JOHN G. SHAVER, in the 78th year of his age.

Another one of the old pioneers is gone. He was born in Boutetourt [sic] county, Virginia, in the year 1802. At the age of 24 he removed to Muhlenburg county, Kentucky, where he resided some eight years. Thence he removed to Illinois, and finally to this county. of which he had been a resident and good citizen for twenty-four years. Raised in the Lutheran faith he had not identified himself with any of the local religious denominations here, but was a liberal in his views on religious matters. He was the father of four sons and four daughters, two of each having preceded him across the dark river. He leaves a wife and the four remaining children to mourn his departure. His funeral took plac [sic] at his home in Pettis Twp., on MoLday [sic] last.
