Shreveport, LA - Carla Jackson Boose died Thursday, February 25, 2013, at Grace Home after a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 28th, at Osborn Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 a.m. in the chapel. She will be honored by friend and colleague, Attorney Jim Boren.

Carla was born November 28, 1961, in Savannah, Georgia to J. Carl Jackson and Nan Thomas Jackson. She grew up in the Atlanta area, and after graduating from LSU-S, worked as an advocate for the chronically mentally ill. For the last 20 years she worked as a Mitigation Specialist. In 2007, she was awarded the highly prestigious, Sam Dalton Courageous Capital Defense Award by her admirers of the Louisiana Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Her greatest achievements are her two outstanding children, Tanner and Casey. She was active in all aspects of their development and shared with them her passion, unique style, humor, and honest approach to life. She opened her home and her heart to their friends, and was a second mother to many of them.

Carla is survived by her son, William Tanner Boose; her daughter, Casey Helen Boose; parents, J. Carl Jackson, Sr. (Pops) and Nan Thomas Jackson; her brother, J. Carl Jackson, Jr. and wife, Chris and their children, Carrigan and Jake Jackson. She is also survived by her favorite aunt, Carolyn Greene of Stockbridge, Georgia; paternal aunts, Gail Huggins and Gwen Leeder; the father of her children, William J. Boose; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
